Sing Aotearoa '23 合唱音乐节

On the 30th of September 2023, teacher Lin Zheng and Boya Guzheng were honoured to be invited to participate in the Sing Aotearoa choral festival. Since its inception in 1990, the Sing Aotearoa Choral Festival has become a shining star in New Zealand's choral scene. Each year, the festival showcases the diversity and excellence of New Zealand's choral music, becoming a significant representative of New Zealand's culture and arts. This year, the much-anticipated music extravaganza was held in Auckland from 29 September to 1 October, and gathered top singers and choirs from across the country, delivering an unparalleled audiovisual feast.

Lin and Boya Guzheng performed classic traditional guzheng pieces, regional guzheng music, and popular tunes from films with exquisite skill. Their performance added an enchanting oriental touch to the music festival, allowing every audience member to deeply experience the unique charm and emotional depth of Chinese guzheng music, with each vibration of the guzheng strings conveying an expression of emotion and a transmission of culture. In their performance, the audience could almost hear the echoes of history, the flow of culture, and the interweaving of emotions.

The outstanding performance by Boya Guzheng not only allowed the New Zealand audience to deeply understand and appreciate the profoundness of Chinese music and culture, but also further strengthened the cultural and artistic exchanges and friendship between China and New Zealand. In the resonance of music, cultural bridges were built, and bonds of friendship were strengthened. In the creative and multicultural land of New Zealand, Sing Aotearoa will continue to be an important platform for music, arts, and cultural exchange, and Chinese music will continue to shine brightly here.
